NEW: 2020 5311 Tribal Transit Program Competitive Applications:
The Tribal Transit Program funds a broad range of public transportation projects serving Tribal communities.
Total Funding Available: $5 million
Funding per project: There is a $25,000 cap on planning projects. FTA has not yet set a maximum or minimum grant award amount for other projects.
Eligible Applicants: Federally recognized Indian tribes or Alaska Native villages, groups, or communities as identified by the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA).
Eligible Projects: Capital projects (including vehicle replacement or fleet expansion, new or rehab facilities/garages, equipment or technology); operating assistance for new service start-ups; and planning projects up to $25,000. All projects must serve a public transportation purpose. Tribes applying for capital replacement or expansion needs must demonstrate a sustainable source of operating funds for existing or expanded services.
Match required: 10% unless the Tribe can demonstrate a financial hardship in its application.
